Black Garlic Bread
Serves 8 as a starter
Time 20 minutes
Ingredients
1 large sourdough loaf
250g unsalted butter, softened
6 cloves black garlic
½ tsp chilli flakes
Juice and zest of 1 lemon
1 tbsp white miso paste
Pinch of black pepper
¼ cup chopped parsley
2 cups vintage cheddar, grated
Method
Preheat oven to 220°C
Using a bread knife, slice the sourdough loaf into 2 cm thick slices, being careful not to slice all the way through to the bottom.
Place all other ingredients, except for the cheese, into a bowl and mix until combined.
Spread the flavoured butter generously into each crevice of the bread slices. Spread any remaining butter over the top of the loaf as well.
Sprinkle the cheese into between each slice and over the top of the loaf.
Cover with foil, place onto a baking tray and cook in the oven for 10 minutes or until the loaf is crunchy and the cheese has melted.
